NJD Dub Sirens
From UK to JA and out to the world, Peak Time Garage takes us back to the roots of sound system culture: soundclash battles, dub reggae pressure, dancehall sessions, and the raw signals that shaped the dance.
The dub siren became a cult classic sound in roots music, dancehall, and underground sound clashes for decades. Its sharp, mysterious tone became a signal of energy, tension, and crowd control, echoing through speakers from Kingston yards to UK garage scenes.
As UK sound system culture expanded through the late 1980s and early 1990s, the dub siren moved into new underground movements. From reggae and dancehall sessions to jungle raves, pirate radio broadcasts, and garage culture, its piercing tone became part of the wider language of UK underground music.
